Introducing… Greek lawyer Maria Fotsala

My name is Maria Fotsala and I was born and raised in Greece. I recently moved to the Netherlands and gladly joined the Bierens International legal team in Amsterdam.

I have a law degree and a master in European Law, with further specialization in Commercial and Contract Law, Banking and Securities Law, Insolvency and Restructuring Proceedings. Following my legal education, I completed my law training in a well-known law firm in Athens. In 2009 I was qualified as a lawyer and have become a member of Athens Bar Association. After establishing my own law practice in Greece, I worked as an in-house legal counsel in the legal department of one of the most reputable banks in Greece for over four years.

I am aware of the difficulties that may arise when pursuing debt recovery in multinational jurisdictions, which mainly rises up to the cultural and language differences between the EU member states. Undoubtedly, due to the current economic situation, trading with Greece may require more caution and patience. Taking all that into account, my aim at Bierens is to offer all my knowledge and legal expertise in order to achieve the best possible outcome for our clients’ cases.
